Hong Kong Adopted England’s RLS Technology

Hong Kong Highway Department (HyD), the agency who is responsible for the operation and maintenance of highways and public street lightings in Hong Kong, adopted England developed corrosion detection technology called the Relative Loss of Section (RLS) technique.

Prior to the acceptance, stringent and thorough evaluation of the technology were done by the department’s senior management. All involved are qualified Chartered Engineer. Detailed presentation and explanation, live site testing, and a comprehensive RLS operation protocol convinced HyD the accuracy, reliability and integrity of the testing regime.

HyD has now embarked on a mature and proven technology with a comprehensive testing regime that give them assurance on cost saving without compromises on public safety.
